Life Skills

As well as our programme of activities like gardening and beauty classes we also equip individuals with new life skills. Sometimes just the sense of achievement from being able to wash their own clothes or manage their own money is enough to make a huge difference to the life of someone with learning difficulites. If you have a loved one who craves independence but lacks confidence in their own abilities then our life skills can offer them just what they need to give them that added boost.

The day centre is based at the old Victorian swimming baths in Eccles and offers all sorts of life skills. These include things like washing their own clothes, doing their own shopping, managing their own money, dressing as well as learning key social skills for a variety of situations. The little things can make a big difference and can be that one step nearer to independence. It offers a real sense of achievment not only to the individual but also the family and gives them the confidence to be able to let go a little.

Like with everything we do at The Links Resource Centre we tailor everything we do to the needs of the individual. If it is just small steps bit by bit that is required hear and there over a longer period then we can offer this. Alternatively we can offer a more busy schedule involving a variety of life skills classes and other activities. It really is up to you what you need from us. We are here to support you and will work with you to work out the right programme of events that suits everyone.
